Sr. System Administrator
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sr. System Administrator to join our team. The Sr. System Administrator will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting our global IT infrastructure; overseeing the installation, configuration, and management of servers, networks, and critical applications. This individual will ensure the stability, security, and optimal performance of our technology ecosystem, both locally and globally, while collaborating with international teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain internal servers locally and globally.
- Proactively manage physical servers, hypervisors, monitoring tools, and back-ups.
- Administer core Microsoft, VMware, and Veeam B&R technologies and databases.
- Develop, implement, and monitor project plans, risk assessments, and contingency strategies.
- Design and implement monitoring and configuration management tools to enable a hands-off environment.
- Define and maintain best practices, support procedures, and asset configuration documentation.
- Support vendors in deploying and upgrading applications on servers and assist with vendor evaluation and negotiations.
- Provide after-hours and occasional weekend support for infrastructure emergencies and maintenance.
- Mentor and cross-train team members, manage external contractors, and work closely with global teams including those in France and the U.S.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2012 2022, managing more than 50 servers locally and up to 700 globally.
- Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networking and Group Policy configuration.
- Experience with Linux administration (Debian/Ubuntu).
- Expertise in Active Directory/LDAP user and group administration.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
- Proficiency with server virtualization technologies including VMware ESX.
- Ability to work effectively in an international context and collaborate with teams across the U.S. and France.
- Strong client focus, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Leadership experience; ability to identify areas for improvement and implement end-to-end solutions.
- Experience managing external contractors and service providers.
