Senior Systems Administrator

About the Role:
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join the Technical Services Team. This role is critical in providing a high level of technical support and expertise for the organization’s IT infrastructure, supporting both internal users and patient services. The Senior Systems Administrator will drive the architecture, implementation, and support of enterprise-level systems, with a focus on cloud, virtualization, and storage technologies. The ideal candidate will assist in the development of a Target State Roadmap and participate in modernization initiatives to upgrade or replace applications and systems. This position is also responsible for high-level solution design, project documentation, and the development of technical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage Cloud (AWS, Azure, M365), VMware, and Storage Area Network (SAN) environments, ensuring consistent operations and optimal performance.
- Lead the development, testing, and execution of disaster recovery plans to support high availability across systems.
- Build and update comprehensive technical documentation, including diagrams, run books, and planning documents for repeatable and efficient processes.
- Perform system analysis to support new application implementations and infrastructure maintenance, using vendor specifications and coordinating with application teams.
- Provide advanced support for Active Directory (cloud and on-premises) and manage group policies.
- Act as a technical expert in backup solutions, including disk-to-disk deduplication and replication.
- Collaborate closely with the Network Engineering team to design and implement solutions to support a 24/7 environment.
- Contribute to budget planning, providing cost estimates for operational and capital expenditures.
- Mentor and train junior System Administrators (I and II), promoting a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and assist in triaging technical issues as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Certifications: At least one active certification from the following:
- Microsoft Certification in Windows Server Technologies (MCP or MCSA)
- VMware Certification
- Microsoft Azure or AWS Cloud Certification
- Epic Certification
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years in technical support for server environments, with at least five (5) years in virtualization technologies and multi-user application environments (e.g., VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Cloud).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
- Experience: Project management experience and demonstrated experience with modernizing applications and systems.
Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of virtualization, SAN technologies, disaster recovery, encryption, and cloud management.
- Expertise in scripting (e.g., PowerShell) and strong troubleshooting skills in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS, and FTP.
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and apply them organization-wide.
- Strong communication skills, fostering clear, professional interactions with team members and stakeholders.
