As an IT Application Engineer at WHOOP, you will be part of our Corporate IT team. This role is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for various internal applications and software systems. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, automating processes, integrating applications, and ensuring the security and reliability of the IT environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for internal applications, troubleshooting issues and answering user questions.
- Monitor application performance and proactively identify and resolve technical problems.
- Serve as an escalation point for help desk inquiries, providing advanced technical assistance as needed.
- Participate in overflow support activities when necessary.
- Integrate and manage single sign-on (SSO) solutions to streamline user access and enhance security.
- Lead or assist in platform consolidation projects, including data migration and user transition.
- Assist in the implementation of new software applications, including testing, training, and ongoing support.
- Develop and implement automated processes to streamline employee onboarding and offboarding, including user account provisioning and deprovisioning.
- Create scripts and programs to optimize business processes
- Identify and define more granular roles and responsibilities within the organization.
- Manage user access and enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) policies.
- Monitor and enforce RBAC compliance to ensure data security and integrity.
- Ensure the security and governance of applications by conducting regular assessments, implementing best practices, and monitoring for threats.
- Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements, including tracking and managing software licenses to avoid over or under provisioning
- Manage and maintain a small subset of on-premises servers, including backups, patching, and performance monitoring.
- Develop training materials and documentation for applications.
- Liaise with software vendors and external IT consultants.
- Report critical software issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Keep management and stakeholders informed about application performance and status.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in software, applications, and IT systems.
- Continuously improve knowledge and skills through ongoing learning and development.
- Participate in on-call rotation and be available to work off-hours as needed to address critical issues and perform maintenance.
- Participate with other Security & IT Operations projects or tasks as needed
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in IT Application Engineer, Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or a similar role
- 3+ years of experience providing Technical Support
- Strong knowledge of various software applications and operating systems.
- In-depth knowledge of RBAC principles and best practices.
- Experience with SSO solutions (e.g., Okta) and identity management principles
- Experience implementing and maintaining secure standard configurations using MDM tools (e.g., Kandji, JAMF, InTune).
- Experience with platform migration and application implementation projects.
- Proficiency in scripting language preferred e.g. Python, Bash, Powershell, SQL, JavaScript, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong documentation skills
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to build positive relationships with internal stakeholders.
This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
