Position Description

Ventucom LLC is seeking a Network and Security Engineer responsible for supporting and enhancing client network and security infrastructure. This role involves three-day onsite support in the New York metropolitan area.

Office Location

New York, NY (combination of remote and required onsite at Ventucom’s office and client office locations) 

Summary of Essential Job Functions 

Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot network issues, optimize performance, and ensure seamless connectivity.
Contribute to network design discussions, considering scalability, redundancy, and security.
Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, IP address assignments, and network topology.
Investigate network outages, connectivity issues, and performance bottlenecks.
Work closely with the security team to implement and maintain security tools, including firewalls, endpoint detection and response, SIEM, next-gen anti-virus, EDR, application control, and access controls.
Assist in vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits.
Respond to security incidents and participate in incident handling procedures.
Monitor alert queue and respond or escalate as needed
Assist in maintaining monitoring and alert management tool

Qualifications

Proficiency in network troubleshooting tools
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Three or more years of experience in the Information Technology field 
Understanding of key networking concepts, including
TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS  
Switching and Firewalls
Familiarity with security principles
Strong oral and written communication skills  
Excellent customer service and strong organizational skills required  
Ability to effectively work in a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks   
Highly motivated and able to adapt to a changing environment while learning new skills  
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university or equivalent experience is a plus

Excellent customer service – can read context of situations and interact appropriately with clients  
Strong organizational skills – ability to prioritize and multitask workload and deadlines  
Communication – ability to relay information without prompting
