Overview of the Position: The Database Architect will be responsible for the design and development of the data architecture for the Modernization effort. This role involves overseeing data transfer, storage, processing, integrity, security, and replication, ensuring adherence to federal guidelines and industry best practices. The architect will work closely with customers and business analysts to understand data usage and flow, ensuring the new database platform is scalable and highly available. Experience with DevSecOps and Agile is required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Design and Development: Lead the design and development of the data architecture for the Modernization platform, focusing on data transfer, storage, processing, integrity, security, and replication.

· Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary POC regarding database design and usage, providing guidance and support to stakeholders.

· Data Architecture Review: Review existing data architecture to identify opportunities for improvement and implement enhancements in the new platform.

· Data Governance: Ensure a deep understanding of data governance principles and implement processes for data migration, adhering to federal and industry guidelines.

· Collaboration: Work with customers and business analysts to understand data usage and flow within the platform, ensuring that the database design meets their needs.

· Scalability and Availability: Ensure that the new database platform design is scalable and highly available to meet current and future demands.

· Documentation: Produce comprehensive documentation about the data design, implementation, and usage, including data dictionaries.

· Guideline Adherence: Adhere to Federal and guidelines, including data security and PII management.

· Database Experience: Utilize strong experience working with both relational and non-relational database platforms to support the modernization effort.

· Data Processing: Have a strong understanding of data processing concepts across various levels of the stack, including web applications, batch processing, backend analytics, replication, and report generation.

· Environment Support: Support the needs of development, testing, and deployment environments while ensuring data integrity and security.

· Business Intelligence Tools: Work with systems such as Tableau and PowerBI that interact with the database platform.

Experience with DevSecOps and Agile is required.

Skills and Abilities:

· Strong expertise in database design and development.

· Proficiency in data governance and data migration processes.

· Excellent understanding of relational and non-relational database platforms.

· Ability to ensure data security and PII management compliance.

· Experience with data processing concepts and tools at various stack levels.

· Strong documentation skills, including producing data dictionaries.

· Ability to collaborate with customers and business analysts effectively.

· Proficiency with business intelligence tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.

· Ability to support development, testing, and deployment environments.

Required Qualifications:

· Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience with a master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline or a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with 8+ years of relevant experience.

· Minimum of 5 years of IT software development, architecture, and support experience.

· At least 3 years of experience delivering a program with a budget over $15M.

· Strong experience in working with both relational and non-relational database platforms.

· Deep understanding of data governance, migration, and processing concepts.

· Proficiency in using and managing business intelligence tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.

Experience with DevSecOps and Agile is required.
