WHAT YOU WILL DO:

This position will work closely with technical management and reports to the IT Lead. The position will manage the JLCCTC virtual environments to include but not limited to storage administration and network administration. You will also work with the team to troubleshoot helpdesk tickets and will also be assigned other projects or tasks in alignment with the level and scope of the position.

Work together in a small team of IT professionals within an Agile development environment to accomplish team milestones while collaborating with other teams to achieve project strategic goals; With everyone working in concert to provide the best service possible.
Expected to take ownership of and troubleshoot highly technical issues in a logical manner to reach a final resolution. They should recommend solutions to solve these issues and work closely with other team members to meet common objectives.
Have a good base understanding of BGP and other datacenter technologies and also be eager to learn and work on new hardware and technologies. They should be very self-motivated and be able to succeed with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Determining business needs and evaluating existing network infrastructure and systems.
Designing and implementing complex network solutions to meet business requirements.
Managing and maintaining network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
Troubleshooting network issues and providing timely resolution to ensure minimal downtime.
Optimizing network hardware and software to enable VMware integration.
Designing and implementing virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and enabling template management.
Installing operating systems and service packs, as well as security patches and bug fixes.
Troubleshooting and resolving VMware environment issues.
Providing technical support and documenting VMware processes.
Cisco Networking experience to include routing, switching, VLANs, Port Channels.
Builds and installs computer infrastructure, which encompasses hardware and virtual machines, using a VMware environment.
Domestic and International travel to Military Installations in support of Program activities is required.

ABOUT YOU:

Associate to bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineer, Information Systems Security, or a related technical field.
Minimum of Five (5) to Seven (7) years of experience supporting IT projects/programs, networking, integration and/or systems engineering.
Cisco Certified Network Associate, or similar certification is required.
Palo Alto Experience Preferred
Experience in IT protocols, IT systems, and wired/wireless networking infrastructures.
Highly proficient written and oral communication skills.
Holds (or has the ability to obtain) a DoD Secret security clearance.
Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

Hands-on working experience in a multi-vendor environment including; Cisco Nexus, ASAs, and Palo Alto devices.
Hands-on working experience in a multi-vendor environment including; Cisco Nexus, 6500s, ASAs, and Palo Alto devices.
An understanding of networking technologies such as BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, MSTP, HSRP, BFD, 802.3ad, OSPF, route reflectors, confederations, FIB/RIB, distributed forwarding, AAA, layer 2 switching, and IPv6Understanding of networking fundamentals including VLANs, subnets, protocols, and standards.
A working knowledge of next generation firewalls, deployment strategies, and network security best practices.
Experience with scripting languages like Python, Ansible, and shell scripting.
Experience using and managing NMS systems such as syslog, Oxidized, Jenkins, and Tacacs and ISE.
Knowledge of multiple Operating Systems; RHEL 6&&, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 & 2016.
Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and containers.
Possess a thorough understanding of VMware.
