Position Summary

The VP of Data Platform will be responsible for leading and driving the development, implementation, and maintenance of Prometheus Group’s data platform infrastructure. This role will oversee a team of software engineers and data scientists to ensure the platform's scalability, reliability, and performance. This role will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical requirements. This role will also be responsible for creating and evolving our data platform so it’s a competitive differentiator upon which we can create, and commercialize, additional solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Architecture: Design and implement a robust data platform architecture that supports the organization's data-driven initiatives, including artificial intelligence.
Team Leadership: Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of engineering and data science professionals.
Technology Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate data technologies and tools based on business requirements and technical considerations.
Infrastructure Management: Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of the data platform infrastructure.
Data Integration: Develop and manage data integrations to consolidate data from various sources that are used as input to the Prometheus Group data platform.
Data Analytics: Collaborate with data scientists to enable advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities.
Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of the data platform to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.
Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and trends to drive innovation and improve the organization's data capabilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
15+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
7+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
Proficiency in data engineering tools and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, SQL, NoSQL databases).
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform and working knowledge in utilizing AWS data-related services including those for machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Ability to create both proof-of-concepts as well as productized functionality for the data platform and AI/ML capabilities on top of the platform
Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
