The position is eligible for telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and will required to report to the office as needed/required. The succesful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under general supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist I (IT Specialist I) will participate in a wide variety of consultative, analytical, and evaluative assignments for development, procurement, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Institution’s Information Services. The IT Specialist I will participate in the modification and enhancement of application programs. Responsibilities will include participation in the analysis of user needs, systems analysis, functional and detailed design, documentation, testing, installation activities, evaluation, user support, and training. The incumbent may also prepare work plans, written reports, and presentations. Travel to institutions and after hours support of technical systems may be required due to operational need.

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. Office of Correctional Safety (OCS) is located in the city of Sacramento in Sacramento County. The Office of Correctional Safety has oversight for all departmental security and emergency management issues. The Office provides a full range of investigative, intelligence, enforcement, and security services to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (the Department). They are also the primary departmental link with allied law enforcement agencies and the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services.
