University Centers and Events (UCE) encompasses the University Union, Gateway Center and Coliseum. University Centers and Events (UCE), provides quality programs, services, and facilities that enhance the educational experience and create a community for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. We assist students to become good citizens of a global community, prepared to function in a diverse world.

Position Overview

The Director for UCE Administration oversees business operations including personnel functions (hiring, onboarding, employee training and development, personnel concerns, etc.), contracts, marketing, assessment, policy oversight, and customer service initiatives for the University Centers and Events department. The department consists of 72 full time staff and approximately 140 student staff. This position directly oversees three full time staff members and indirectly supervises two additional full-time staff members and 25 students.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree with coursework in Business Administration and personnel management and four years of experience in overseeing personnel functions (such as hiring, onboarding, training, and personal development) and business functions (such as contract management, marketing, etc.) or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred in Business Administration, Higher Education, or related field.

Experienced supervisor.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties:

To be entered by department.
Oversees functional areas of marketing, assessment, information center, and personnel functions within large department. Provides direction for staffing and operations. Manages budgets for functional areas.
Participates in UCE senior management team. In the absence of the Executive Director, makes decisions and provides guidance for the department. Represents the department through participation in University and Division committees and planning groups.
Works on strategic plans and initiatives.
Manages sensitive personnel issues and manages confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. Provides leadership and coaching. Demonstrates effective problem solving and resourceful thinking.
Manages UCE long-term business services contracts and annual contracts. Maintain files, audits for contract fulfillment, and handles negotiation and renewal as needed. Maintains vendor relationships.
Creates and implements an annual plan for employee training and development. Provide leadership and oversight for corresponding UCE Committees. Implements customer service initiatives and training across all UCE areas.
Reviews UCE policies, procedures, and forms and ensure they are updated as needed and ensure division and university compliance. -
Uses assessment tools and/or intermediate reviews of various areas processes to improve Business, Personnel, Marketing, Assessment, and the Information Desk. -
Works with marketing staff to develop new strategies for marketing, social media, retail, and other departmental services. *Oversees the yearly marketing plan for the University Union and all subsidiaries to ensure successful implementation and outreach. *Reviews business plan annually for retail operations to ensure that pricing, expenses, and profit margins are competitive on a local and regional level.
Works with associate director to ensure compliance within the division and university. Annually reviews assessment tools utilized by the University Union and department for effectiveness. Work to analyze data gained by assessment tools to make strategic planning decisions for the department.
Co-serves as Records Management Representative for Union. Destroys confidential information and records in a timely manner, as needed and required by UNT policy.
