About
This last year I've been training for a position in Cyber Security by completing multiple certifications - see resume. In the Blue Team Level 1 Certification, I used Phishing Analysis and the Mitre Att&ck Framework to work through real world scenarios. I found Splunk and Wireshark to be particularly helpful in searching through network logs for malicious activity and IP addresses. I also used Autopsy to examine disk images of the suspect computer. Currently I am taking the SOC Level 1 path and continuing with practical labs from TryHackMe.
I got a taste of Cyber Security in a recent job at the King County Elections. I was in charge of running the email account for unmatched signatures. I used phishing analysis to ensure emails were legitimate and links and pdfs were safe. I used an air-gapped computer to open suspicious files, securely checking them for legitimate voter forms. Voter elections are a huge security priority.
Prior to this, I was in customer service, working retail, service, and educational jobs interacting with diverse groups of people, adapting to dynamic situations, such as last minute changes catering weddings ensuring difficult clients enjoyed their best day. It definitely honed my skills for effective time management and multitasking.
My Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture was highly focused on computer program skills, including AutoCAD, Rhinoceros 5, the Adobe Suite, and GIS. Learning so many intricate programs provides a strong base for a Cyber Analyst role. Additionally I met with and presented to stakeholders and completed stakeholder analysis reports for numerous projects.
