Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions of the It Infrastructure Engineer include but are not limited to the following:
• Ensures all workstations and servers under the responsibility of SoS are patched in accordance with SoS standards using MS ECM and/or Intune. Develop and maintain all workstation images for deployment to new workstations using MS ECM.
• Reviews/evaluates configuration/operations of any server & network-based systems; evaluates new server hardware and/or software for potential implementation in SOS environment; identifies, designs & documents server configurations & physical layouts; make purchase recommendations; prepares appropriate server reports for long range planning; assists manager in design of new network, wiring plans, equipment purchases & related functions.
• Install, configure & maintain virtual infrastructure; maintains industry knowledge of VMWare virtual technology & storage systems; facilitate managed services provider access and service for Windows & Linux operating systems (e.g., Inoapps and OIT Backup processes). Monitor backup logs for issues and take corrective action when needed.
• Install, configure, update & maintain web server software specifically Microsoft's Internet Information Services (IIS) on DMZ & LAN; maintains web system performance by performing system monitoring, analysis & performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software & operating & systems; tracking system capacity (e.g., CPU, memory, disk space) & reporting/correcting any issues; install upgrades, security patches, & monitor for intrusion signs & other security vulnerabilities; deployment, administration & operational support environments (e.g., production, UAT, & development) for multiple projects using IIS; automate delivery of new server environments leveraging VMWare technology.
• Under direction of Network Infrastructure Manager; ensures technical direction of applications & solutions both within & across business area portfolios while ensuring strong alignment with business strategy; installs/maintains server-based hardware & related equipment; administer networks-based applications (e.g., Azure/Entra ID, AD, DNS, DHCP); administers global naming conventions throughout server environment; maintains third-party server applications software; assists with architecture of cloud based solutions & maintains current Microsoft Azure, Entra ID & Microsoft 365 Technologies including Defender ATP
