About The Role
The Folklore is searching for an experienced Director of Retail Sales and Account Management to grow and manage relationships with existing enterprise retail partners and lead the retail sales & account management team. This role is a key part of the leadership team that will help with developing strategies across enterprise retail sales and enterprise retail account management. A core responsibility will be growing spend from our key existing accounts as an individual contributor. They will also lead a two person retail sales & account management team. This role will have a significant impact on the company's revenue, roadmap, and external relationships. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground level and work closely with our CEO to develop a barrier breaking world-class company.
Responsibilities
Sales–Individual contributor
- Personally identify and create a sales pipeline of new buyers from our existing enterprise retailers to pitch them on placing orders from our brands

- Personally manage every stage of the sales pipeline from identifying buyers, pitching them brands, closing orders, and ensuring they receive their deliveries
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with enterprise customers’ executive teams
- Execute and augment the enterprise retail sales pipeline playbook
- Execute and augment the enterprise retail sales pitch emails and meeting scripts
- Attend and host in person sales appointments during market seasons
- Take buyers and retail executives out for in person meals or refreshments
Account Management / Team Management
- Manage existing and recruit new retail sales & account management team members
- Oversee and provide support to retail sales & account management team & ensure they hit their goals
- Handle issues that are escalated by direct reports
- Create reports on business status, risks, and revenue attainment
- Execute and augment the retail sales & account management playbook
- Execute and augment the retail sales & account management pitch emails and meeting scripts
Strategic Development
- Collaborate with CEO to set and manage objectives, goals, and KPIs
- Help CEO develop retail sales strategies to achieve business objectives
- Provide insight on product roadmap based on customer needs and company objectives
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop strategy for successful digital and physical selling events that lead to retail and sales growth
Who You Are
- You have significant wholesale sales experience with a proven track record of selling to enterprise retail buyers
- A quick and intuitive learner with a strong understanding of sales and account management
- You have played a key supportive role in successfully scaling revenue at an early stage company
- Extremely well organized and can manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
- A strong executer willing to take a hands-on approach
- Great communication skills, continuous learning, and bias for action
- Great team player with passion for encouraging cross-functional collaboration and alignment
- You have experience with building and scaling internal tools which drive efficient and effective operations

Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 7-10 years of professional wholesale sales experience
- At least 5 years of experience selling fashion, beauty, or home products wholesale
- Minimum of 3 years managing teams
- Experience at small company or early stage startup
- Experience with CRM systems
