The Senior Engineer IT Infrastructure position provides technical expertise in server, storage, and cloud engineering that facilitates all business services for our client, including manufacturing, distribution, research and development, finance, and operations. Must have the proven ability to frame complex systems or network problems in a concise way and work with the team to develop an approach for breaking the problem down into manageable pieces. This role has the responsibility to mentor and educate others, identify problems, propose solutions, and participate in incident management and change management processes. This person will understand business process re-engineering and IT system development.
Key to this position is a good solid common sense with a passion for being a part of a team and solving problems in a positive and cohesive way.
Essential Functions And Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain the company’s Global infrastructure through documentation and standardization while providing IT solutions for complex problems involving the environment.
- Provide technical evaluations, consulting, design for projects as required by the business.
- Serve as a task leader, providing project technical and management support, including defining project scope, requirements, solutions, and deliverables; consulting with customers, working groups and experts as needed; implementing plans to meet goals and objectives; providing recommendations to coordinate and integrate activities, resolve complex problems impacting project and activities.
- This position is responsible for maintaining a healthy storage and compute environment including managing access, security, availability, performance, capacity, backups, efficiency, and business continuity in an on premise and cloud environment.
- Accountable for system architecture and documentation.
- Possess expert knowledge in Microsoft stack technology such as MS OS (Server and Client OS)
- Perform all aspects of Monitoring, Capacity Planning, Performance tuning and Optimization, and Lifecycle (obsolescence) of Storage and virtualization infrastructure within the enterprise.
- Assist with a complex geographically distributed business with ever changing warehouse management and eCommerce Infrastructure.
- Conduct analyses that assess application of industry best practices, results in cost savings, or determines if a solution matches the desired architectural objectives to optimize operational efficiency.
- Update and leverage centralized information management systems (e.g., CMDB, ticket systems, architecture diagrams, standard procedures, etc.)
- Advanced troubleshooting and incident resolution from storage/data backup perspective in concert with the external service provider (who will provide hands-on activities) and recommend continuous improvement actions.
- Create or evaluate the Root Cause Analysis documentation. When provided by an external service provider engineers must follow up on the actions identified.
- Understand that this is I.T and we will be asked to step in on nights, weekends and holidays if the business or an outage determines the need.
Knowledge And Skills Requirements

- Familiar with server, virtualization, storage, network and other hardware and firmware
- Knowledge of ITIL framework or similar models for IT workflow, DevOps culture, methodologies and technologies, Data privacy laws and practices
- Server, cloud, and configuration management solutions
- Orchestration and automation software stacks
- PowerShell, Perl, and other programming languages for automation
- Connected infrastructure, including networking, and external clouds
- Infrastructure services, such as LDAP, Active Directory, FTP, DNS, SQL databases and Citrix
Education, Work Experience, And Professional Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or other related technical degrees (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics)
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, MBA, or other technical field is highly preferred.
- 5-7 years as a network or systems engineer/administrator with experience in most of the following: Windows or Linux operating systems, Active Directory, network hardware, enterprise storage, virtualization
- Expertise is required in Windows OS, Active Directory, Azure AD, data storage, server hardware, virtualization, and all supporting infrastructure for manufacturing platforms.
- Experience in managing Linux OS and automation software is also desirable.
- VMware VCP, MCSE or similar certifications are a plus
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Primarily office environment, consistent computer use
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary.
- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
