What you'll do
- Design, implement, and maintain our company's network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
- Manage and troubleshoot complex network issues, including but not limited to routing, switching, VLANs, and firewalls.
- Utilize Azure networking services to design, deploy, and manage cloud-based solutions, ensuring seamless integration with on-premises infrastructure.
- Implement and manage Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Server instances, Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, Azure Firewall, and other networking components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute network architecture upgrades and migrations to Azure.
- Monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and implement enhancements to optimize resource utilization and user experience.
- Implement and enforce security policies, protocols, and access controls to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the IT team.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network administration and Azure services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Commensurate experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in network administration, with a focus on Azure networking.
- Strong proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, and network security groups (NSGs).
- A strong understanding of the Azure ecosystem, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, and Azure SQL Server, is crucial. This includes knowing the capabilities, features, and best practices for deploying and managing applications on these services.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing Azure App Service environments, including web apps, mobile apps, API apps, and Azure Functions. This involves tasks such as setting up deployment slots, configuring custom domains, managing SSL certificates, and scaling applications.
- Expertise in administering Azure SQL Server databases, including provisioning, configuring, and optimizing database performance. This encompasses tasks such as managing database security, backups, restores, and implementing disaster recovery solutions.
- Ability to monitor the health and performance of Azure App Service, Azure Functions, and Azure SQL Server using Azure monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Azure SQL Database Advisor. Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Understanding of Azure security principles and best practices for securing Azure resources, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, and Azure SQL Server. Knowledge of compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC for ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in setting up and managing connections between VMs and cloud-based components using tools such as Fabric, Data Pipelines, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Synapse, Azure Secrets, and gateways. Experienced in database migration to hosted cloud services with a focus on cost-effective solutions. Knowledgeable in multi-cloud strategies, including integrating and linking components across environments such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and network security principles.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting network performance issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Azure certifications such as AZ104 (Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
