Job Title: SAP BASIS Administrator (Only local)

Duration: Long Term (1 to 2 Years)
Total Experience – At least 12+ Years
We currently support SAP Suite on HANA on SUSE servers utilizing Solution Manager and LAMA. We have additional applications we support on Windows and RHEL servers which include Streamserve, Presort, Finalist, LiquidUI, Epi-use, FileLocal, Clevest, HP ALM, PI and more. We have some cloud presence using Ariba CIG, SAP BTP, Cloud Connector (CC), Integration Suite (IS) and Signavio. We are also beginning our migration to S/4 in the cloud and will have extensive work to do for this in role cleanup, Fiori implementation and more.
This candidate will work as an hourly member of the BASIS team during our typical working hours and City business days. (Typical hours are between 7am and 5pm Pacific Time)
The Ideal Candidate Should Have
- Expert knowledge in SAP ECC, BTP, CC, IS, RISE on AWS, Fiori, application architecture, operations, monitoring, patching, Support Packs, security, database and system administration, system implementation, and project management.
- Expert knowledge in monitoring SAP systems, applications, and databases and to provide proactive intervention, to help ensure the best possible customer experience. Including knowledge on configuring and communicating reports such as the SAP Early Watch report.
- High Attention to detail is a must. Independently manage projects: plan, organize, and gather requirements, conduct meetings, document, perform research, develop work products, recommendations, and action plans.
- Expert knowledge in developing, implementing, and improving standards, guidelines, and best practices for system security, maintaining the overall integrity of the applications and databases.
- Expert knowledge in creating and upgrading application servers, database systems, Operating Systems and related applications, administration tools and provides ongoing instruction and training to others on their capabilities and proper usage.
- Expert knowledge in server administration, protocols, ports, SSL certificate management, OS administration, scripting, CLI administration, interface architecture.
- Knowledge and experience in solving business challenges by effectively and efficiently communicating possible technical solutions.
- Expert experience and understanding of Windows servers, Linux RHEL, SUSE, MaxDB, HANA, SAP BTP, CIG, Integration Suite, PI, security certificates, SSO, and application operational and interface architecture.
- Project Management experience and knowledge and excellent customer service and communication skills.
Deliverables
- Work with the in-house BASIS Team in performing daily system maintenance, system monitoring, and administration, as well as providing best practices and filling knowledge gaps as needed.
- Assist in getting the Early Watch report working again and emailed out regularly to Management.
- Fulfill Tickets and work in a proactive and timely manner using the procedures and processes of the team.
- Assist BASIS team on project implementation, documentation, developing best practices, standards, and process improvements.
- Provide expertise and knowledge transfer to the team for migration to S/4 HANA, cloud architecture, Disaster Recovery architecture and documentation, Signavio and BTP administration and use.
- Complete security requests, SAP support pack implementation, security patches for SAP, server OS upgrades and patching, move non-ECC SUSE servers to Windows platform and other assignments as needed.
- Comply with City of Tacoma ITD policies and procedures.
- Assist with resolving incident and request tickets.
- Provide excellent communication and documentation to team and management and end users.
- Provide excellent customer service to the employees of the City of Tacoma.
