Sr. Network Engineer
The Network Engineer will have hands-on responsibility for our development and production networking environments. The incumbent will perform installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and operational support of all network components, including security appliances and devices, with limited supervision.
An active Top Secret clearance and CISSP certification is required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide recommendations on architectural changes and design enhancements to the network infrastructure to improve reliability and performance, reduce cost, and accommodate projected growth.
- Maintain, manage, and document IP network design and allocation.
- Extensive experience configuring Palo Alto Firewalls and implementing security best practices.
- Familiar with Panorama, IPSec, and BGP routing.
- Design, architect, document, and provide support for Routers, Switches, Security Solutions, VPNs, and Network Management Solutions across LAN/WAN.
- Design, architect, document, and provide support for network security by managing firewalls, IPS, and ACLs on all network equipment.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of network standards and the overall regional and global network environments.
- Configure and maintain a proactive Network Monitoring System using existing tools to maintain and track network metrics.
- Perform ongoing network fine-tuning, upgrades, and enhancements to optimize network performance, availability, stability, and security.
- Conduct analysis of network characteristics, troubleshoot problems, and recommend solutions for creating a highly available and redundant network.
- Train and provide knowledge transfer to team members as needed.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution. Relevant education/experience in appropriate technical and management areas may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Active Top Secret clearance required, as well as CISSP certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Certifications like Network+, Security+, or CISSO are a plus.
- Demonstrated flexibility in adapting communication styles, embracing change, and implementing alternate approaches to solving complex problems.
Preferred Hardware and Software Experience:
- Palo Alto Firewalls, GlobalProtect, Cisco/Extreme Wired and Aruba/Cisco Wireless Controllers.
- OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
- NetSight Console and Policy Manager.
