This role joins SpearTip, the cybersecurity consulting segment within Zurich Resilience Solutions. Blending cutting-edge technologies, unique skill sets and proven cyber counterintelligence strategies, SpearTip partners with our clients to protect shareholder value, shield corporate reputations and enhance long-term profits. We are driven to protect our clients from the ever-changing threat actors and become the gold standard in detecting zero-day vulnerabilities. This role joins a growing team of 4 within the St Louis, MO area. 5 days/week hybrid role with occasional office days.
A Software Engineer role at SpearTip is responsible for the development and enhancement of software products to support business operations and deliver on our mission. To be successful in this role an individual will need to have knowledge of software development, an awareness of Agile development methodologies, and a strong desire to learn. Under moderate supervision, this individual will need to effectively deliver on assignments, contribute to a sustainable product delivery flow, and seek knowledge to improve skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with product team to understand user stories ready for development
- Participate in the development and delivery of new features or enhancements
- Unit test to identify and resolve problems or bugs prior to launch of new features
- Create or update relevant product and development documentation
- Aid in troubleshooting during support incidents related to the ShadowSpear platform
The role will be filled at the Software Engineer or Sr Software Engineer level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
Basic Qualifications:
Software Engineer:
- Bachelors Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Software Programming Applications area OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Software Programming Applications area AND
- Experience assisting with design, coding benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs
- Experience working with multiple phases of software systems programming applications
OR
Sr Software Engineer:
- Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Software Programming Applications area OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Software Programming Applications area OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Software Programming Applications area AND
- Experience assisting with design, coding benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs
- Experience working with multiple phases of software systems programming applications
- Experience working with multiple programming languages
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Agile project methodology concepts (Kanban, Scrum, etc)
- Experience or training in either UI or middleware development
- Experience or training in scripting languages
- Python, Powershell, Javascript
- Experience using cloud services
- Experience working in a hybrid/remote environment
- Able to communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues
- Practices excellent time management
- Ability to prioritize effectively
- Strong written and oral communication skills
