Virtualization Systems Engineer (Level III)
We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Systems Engineer to join our team, with a strong background in system management and virtualization technologies. This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of all installed systems and infrastructure, with a focus on performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and security. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of VMware, Nutanix, Openshift, and cloud platforms, along with a strong aptitude for automation and containerization.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Management: Manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Virtualization Technologies: Install, configure, and manage technologies such as VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter), Nutanix (AHV), Openshift, Harvestor, Kubevirt, and more.
- Performance Monitoring: Ensure high availability of systems through performance tracking and optimization.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to storage, network, and performance.
- Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup solutions, including disaster recovery protocols like SRM.
- Security: Apply security patches and updates to maintain a secure virtual environment.
- Compliance: Maintain adherence to SOX and PCI compliance standards.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation on configurations and procedures.
- Collaboration: Work with IT teams to integrate virtual systems with broader infrastructure.
- Capacity Planning: Analyze and forecast future infrastructure needs.
- Automation: Develop scripts to automate routine tasks, improving operational efficiency.
- Cloud Integration: Provision cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) to complement on-premise capabilities.
- Containerization: Design and implement container strategies using Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher.
- Architecture & Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert in virtualization technologies and architect virtual solutions, including data centers and desktops.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 13–20 years in virtualization technologies, systems management, and related fields.
- Certifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), or equivalent certifications preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred. In lieu of a degree, 4 additional years of relevant experience are required.
- Clearance: Must be able to obtain a USPS Public Trust Clearance (Green card holders or U.S. citizens only).
