The DevSecOps Engineer researches, develops, implements, and maintains DevSecOps processes and tools to automate the integration and deployment of complex DoD cybersecurity software applications. This role will also maintain deployment of multiple software baselines with custom Virtual Machine (VM) and container configurations development, testing, and deployment activities. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently and transition between programs to provide backfill or permanent support.
About the Mission:
The Persistent Cyber Training Environment (PCTE) supports the United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) by enabling a critical need for the DoD and Joint Cyberspace Operations Forces to train at the individual, team, and force level. The PCTE is an online client that allows access to Cybercom’s cyber mission force from anywhere in the world for individual or collective training and mission rehearsal. PCTE is one of the five elements of the Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture (JCWA). Since its inception in 2015, it has been managed on behalf of Cybercom and the joint cyber force by the Army’s Program Executive Office Simulation, Training and Instrumentation.

Responsibilities:
- Installing and maintaining networked virtual and physical machines, software applications, security controls and appliances, and peripheral equipment
- Providing professional-level IT, virtual environment, and network support functions
- Assisting software developers, integration, and test engineers
- Maintaining a lab environment with cybersecurity policies and procedures
- Trouble-shooting capabilities to diagnose system problems, analyzing hardware and software functionality, and resolving problems within scope authority
- Auditing, documenting, presenting, and archiving varied cybersecurity information
- Documenting problems/issues via IT ticketing system/tracking log
- Reviewing and updating all information security management system process and procedures
- Supporting periodic scanning of lab machines
- Collecting, processing, and presenting information and metrics to show automation improvements or degradations over time
- Migrating legacy DevOps/IA/IT capabilities to new systems without losing project history or documentation
- Balancing hybrid cloud distribution between private corporate infrastructure and public clouds
- Supporting business development and proposal efforts with DevSecOps expertise
- Interacting with developers to understand software changes that will impact development and testing activities
- Training more junior personnel
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Experience implementing DevSecOps, DevOps, IT, or Security automation supporting multiple teams
- Experience with Linux
- Experience with or ability to learn or VMware, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Google Cloud Platform, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) On Prem, Docker, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Experience with private and hybrid cloud design/operation/monitoring/deployment: VMware vCenter and ESXi, generally maintained at the most current version
- Ability to manage Java enterprise web services
- Ability to write, test, debug, deploy, and sustain scripts
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands
- The ability to lead small projects to research and/or implement new technologies
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- IT or security certifications (DevSecOps, Agile, VMware, RedHat, AWS, Microsoft, etc.)
- Experience with Atlassian tools (Bamboo, BitBucket, Confluence, JIRA, etc.), Jenkins, Puppet, and Git
- Familiarity with cloud vendors’ products, tools, and APIs such as CentOS/RedHat, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Azure
- Ability to design and implement self-service portals
- Experience with Photon OS or similar containerizing for deploying, monitoring, and managing containers in a VMware environment
- Java software development experience or C#/.Net development and/or deployment skills, particularly with Azure services
- Ability to manage web services
- Experience with Agile development processes
- Ability to write or modify web server-side scripting languages and files
- Experience with Graylog, ELK, or similar syslog capability
- Knowledge of or experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF), DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP), and National Institute of Standards And Technology (NIST) or similar best practices and security guidelines
