Job Overview
We are actively seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Cybersecurity Engineer to become an integral part of our esteemed team. This role will primarily support the Business and Enterprise Systems (BES) Directorate in advancing Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) and ensuring compliance with the Federal Information Systems Control Audit Manual (FISCAM). You will have a significant impact on enhancing project management, system engineering, and software development processes while promoting secure code development and effective compliance protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in a range of project tasks that address unique cybersecurity challenges, integrating electronic processes to solve system or technology-related security issues.
- Assist in the planning, design, development, testing, demonstration, and integration of information systems with a security-focused approach.
- Support assessment and authorization (A&A) activities for DoD information systems by adhering to established processes.
- Document security control test results using eMASS and manage RMF-related artifacts relevant to NIST security control families.
- Lead initiatives aimed at mitigating vulnerabilities identified during security assessments.
- Develop System Security Plans in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD IT systems.
- Conduct Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) reviews and ensure compliance through remediation and documentation.
- Create and implement policies and procedures aligning systems with business requirements and user needs.
- Define system requirements based on user/client needs, cost considerations, and integration compatibility.
- Establish technical standards and functionality tests, potentially developing specifications, prototypes, or user guides.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, developers, and end users to ensure application designs meet both business and cybersecurity standards.
- Lead and coordinate efforts of work teams responsible for application systems and programming tasks.
- Provide operational support to project development and software testing teams, managing complex strategies and technical concepts.
- Conduct configuration management of information systems hosted within the customer’s data center.
- Stay informed about various cybersecurity and software engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to achieve project goals effectively.
Required Skills
- DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, SSCP, GSEC).
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- At least 6 years of professional experience directly related to cybersecurity support.
- Ability to pass a background screening and possess an active Secret Clearance.
