Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled Part-Time Server Administrator Associate to assist in maintaining and optimizing our in-office server infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with Linux systems and genuinely enjoys using open-source programs, while also possessing a strong understanding of server administration and network management principles. The Part-Time Server Associate will collaborate closely with our Executive and In-Office team to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our server environment.
This position will be mostly remote, with occasional hours needed in our Alexandria, VA office.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and administer Linux-based servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance tasks.
- Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize system efficiency.
- Ensure the security and integrity of server infrastructure by implementing appropriate security measures and protocols.
- Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures to safeguard data.
- Install, configure, and maintain existing open-source software applications as required by the organization.
- Plan and implement server upgrades and migrations.
- Provide technical support and assistance to staff regarding server-related issues.
- Document server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in server administration and open-source software.
Requirements:
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line interface.
- Proficiency in server administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance tasks.
- Experience with open-source software and tools commonly used in server environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot server-related issues effectively.
- Knowledge of network protocols and security principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with team members.
- Prior experience in a similar role or relevant certifications would be advantageous.

- This is a part-time position, with flexible scheduling options available.
