Network Engineer
Essential Functions
- The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house data, voice, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing and developing LANs, WANs and WLANs across the organization.
- The Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required.
- Work as a part of the Network Engineering team assisting in the design, development, configuration and maintenance of Bealls corporate and store network and telephony systems.
- Responsible for support, setup and network documentation for any work done as part of a work assignment
- Assist in the utilization, performance and successful daily operation of network data and telephony systems employed by Bealls in the operation of the business
- Perform duties in non-network related areas of Network Engineering when needed and feasible.
- Responsible for involvement in highest levels of error correction and comprehensive troubleshooting.
- Perform work during non-business hours as requirements or business needs dictate.
- May recommend purchasing equipment to maintain the networked systems overseen by Network Engineering
- May monitor equipment function and health to ensure optimal performance in conformance with specifications
- Participate in an on-call rotation / Perform work during non-business hours as requirements or business needs dictate
- Log and report work as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Interaction
- Reports to Manager of Network Engineering.
- Extensive interaction with IT staff and management, as well as the Network Engineering team members.
- Some interaction with various people throughout the company, including store personnel and other corporate center departments.
Supervisory Responsibilites
There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.
Physical Demands
Must have adequate vision, speech, hearing and physical ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must have full body rotation and mobility (i.e., bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, etc).
- Must have full arm and hand usage to operate and move equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
- Cisco CCNA certification required, Cisco CCNP or beyond strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience with enterprise networking technologies, tools & processes, including routing & switching, L4-7 traffic management (e.g. load balancing), firewalls, datacenter fabric, campus networks, VoIP, wireless, as well as networking protocols such as TCP/IP, IPSec, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, etc.
- Proficient with network operating systems such as: IOS, IOS-XE, JunOS (SRX/MX), NXOS, Linux
- Understanding and implementation of network traffic analysis for troubleshooting (Wireshark, Netflow, etc.)
- In depth use of TACACS/RADIUS (ACS & ISE preferred)
- In depth familiarity with SolarWinds Orion and Cisco Prime (or other NMS) preferred.
- Solid experience with firewall configuration and administration. Cisco ASA, FireSight, Firepower & Palo Alto strongly preferred.
- Cisco WLC experience strongly preferred. Solid understanding of 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, RF and WLAN fundamentals
- Experience with F5 LTM configuration and management desirable
- Ability to evaluate multiple vendor data products. Document test plans, assist in vendor selection and develop engineering to deploy if approved.
- DMVPN experience preferred
- Exposure to or experience with programming/scripting languages or tools used to automate networks (e.g. Python)
- Cisco UCSX experience a plus
- SD-WAN experience a plus
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; college degree is preferred.
- Experience with Cisco Unified Collaboration strongly preferred
- Expertise working with industry best practices
- Analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Fluent in English.
