They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Vice President of Compliance to join their executive team. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) and extensive experience in compliance, risk management, and regulatory affairs within the energy sector. This role is critical to their mission, as it involves managing energy compliance, overseeing risk management practices, and ensuring timely government filings. The SVP of Compliance will also be responsible for planning, launching, and tracking initiatives to enhance our internal compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of compliance strategies and policies in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations related to utility-scale energy projects.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks across the organization, ensuring effective risk management frameworks are in place.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of required filings to regulatory agencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
- Design and execute programs aimed at improving internal compliance activities, including training and awareness initiatives for staff.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including legal, operations, and project management teams, to ensure a unified approach to compliance across all projects.
- Establish metrics to monitor compliance performance and prepare regular reports for the executive team and board of directors.
- Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations, advising the organization on potential impacts and necessary adjustments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to promote effective communication and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs within the energy sector, preferably with a utility-scale developer or energy company.
- Strong knowledge of energy regulations and compliance requirements at federal, state, and local levels.
- Proven ability to develop and implement compliance programs and initiatives.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and with external stakeholders.
