As the Vice President, Enterprise Data, you will be responsible for developing and executing Medica’s enterprise data strategy and enabling the company’s future digital, operational, and analytical capabilities. Key consumers and channels including data science, operational reporting, real time applications and our digital asset owners are dependent on this data, as we deepen our provider relationships, improve the experience of our members, and manage healthcare affordability.
This individual will collaborate at a strategic level, balancing organizational needs with modern data capabilities by working closely with the leadership, to formulate and drive patterns and practices that help improve insights within the health system. You will report directly to the Chief Information Officer.
Key Accountabilities:
Data Strategy – Lead the development of company's data strategy and serve as the principal data thought leader. The development and overall alignment of this will be laid out on a roadmap, and ultimately focused in on implementing new data capabilities that enhance customer experience, provider partner integration, and improve healthcare cost/quality and administrative cost efficiency. Assess technologies to recommend optimal solutions. Overall collaboration will be needed here across senior leadership team and stakeholders, and the combination of strategies to get to one view for all of Medica may be necessary.
Data Architecture, Management and Governance – Work closely with the architecture team to deliver modern architecture that meets business needs. Oversee end-to-end data ecosystem, to ensure consistency, quality, speed, and usability. Drive initiatives to enhance data capabilities, such as Electronic Medical Records (EMR) integration and digital experience improvements. Implement robust data governance requirements ensuring compliance standards are met. Participate in senior leadership committees focused on data and analytical strategies, including the healthcare affordability committee and consumer experience work group. Accountable for managing data technology and consulting vendor relationships, to maintain high standards and drive impactful outcomes.
Analytics Enablement – Collaborate with the Chief Analytics Officer on our company's analytics strategy. Responsible for enhancing data availability, user enablement, and tool selection. Modernize cutting-edge analytical methodologies like predictive analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence.
Digital Enablement – Work closely with Chief Technology Officer to support company's digital strategy. Align on an Application Programming Interface (API) strategy to ensure data flowing through the APIs are included in data strategy. Support the use of artificial intelligence in software.
Operational Reporting Enablement – Work closely with operational business users to ensure data needs are met. Improve self-service reporting by collaborating with analytics team.
Global Team Leadership – Provide leadership and development for the enterprise data team. Support a diverse workforce strategy including existing global partnerships and teams to cost effective talent solutions based on business need.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required with MBA preferred
- 10+ years in data and technology
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior leader accountable for enterprise data strategy and people leadership
- Experience working in regulated and managed environments (e.g. Healthcare, Finance, Government)
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to create a solid strategy and effectively engage key stakeholders is required to be successful in this role
- Demonstrated ability to drive for results in a matrixed environment
- Demonstrated technology, and data executive management experience
- Experience working with a broad range of technologies, and data platforms
- Understands technology delivery, including Agile development, program methodologies, architecture, integration, quality assurance, development
- Experience directly leading teams in the areas of technology, data management and/or analytical services
- Experience implementing and leading data services and analytical support capabilities; experience with assessing and implementing digital technology
- Demonstrated acumen related to IT budgeting, cost management and demand management
- Strong people management skills, with experience in managing resources to meet goals on simultaneous/multiple projects
- Experienced at collaboration cross functionally and working in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to professionally challenge assumptions and decisions in a pragmatic manner to control scope and ensure successful delivery
- Willingness to bring intense curiosity and possess the ability to present information clearly, concisely, and accurately
- Demonstrated success in communicating, motivating and influencing individuals, teams and programs to ensure delivery
This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the designated office, Minnetonka, for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.
Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
