Summary
The Senior Vice President of Technology (SVP, Tech) is a key executive responsible for leading the organization’s technology strategy, focusing on clean energy technology initiatives and associated federal reporting, compliance, and data integrity. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the SVP, Tech will guide the development and implementation of technology platforms to support the company’s goals in sustainability and innovation. The SVP, Tech will lead efforts to develop and build scalable systems for operational excellence, scale, and the fulfillment of Capital Good Fund’s mission. This role will ensure all technology initiatives are aligned with: social and environmental impact goals; EPA Solar For All and IRS reporting and compliance frameworks; and the needs of customers (i.e., lessees), business partners (i.e., solar installers), and Capital Good Fund staff.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Oversee the development of a technology roadmap, aligning with the organization's clean energy mission
- Provide leadership in scaling technologies for customer, partner, and sub-awardee reporting, ensuring compliance with all federal regulations and sustainability goals
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (legal, operations, finance, etc.) to integrate technology solutions that drive clean energy initiatives, including Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) and regulatory compliance
- Represent the organization in discussions with stakeholders, including consultants and third-party vendors, to ensure ongoing compliance with federal mandates in clean energy technology
- Data Oversight:
- Ensure all technology platforms comply with data-related federal regulations, particularly in reporting for federal energy projects and sustainability programs, including Solar For All
- Lead the implementation of secure systems to manage sensitive data, ensuring compliance with standards like NERC-CIP, FERC, and others relevant to clean energy
- Develop technology solutions to manage EPA reporting requirements for both internal and external data/reporting with a strong focus on standardization
- Technology Development and Management:
- Lead the development of platforms to support clean energy project management, including monitoring, reporting, and optimizing energy production, portal, and payment solutions
- Manage technology partnerships with vendors specializing in clean energy solutions, ensuring all systems support sustainability and efficiency goals
- Lead the development including mapping and requirements gathering for all technology solutions
- Lead the efforts in creating a best-in-class, end-to-end technology solution for solar and battery-storage projects that benefit low-income households and communities
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Promote innovation within the organization, implementing emerging technologies to support renewable energy and sustainability projects
- Constantly evaluate and improve the organization’s technology stack to enhance process efficiency, compliance reporting, and scalability in clean energy projects
- Review and create all technology-related policies and procedures and ensure implementation, while evaluating effectiveness and compliance
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, focusing on process optimization, execution, and communication
- Provide professional development opportunities for team members to stay current with evolving regulations and technologies in the clean energy space
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with the C-suite and other executives to align the technology strategy with financial goals, the Capital Good Fund strategic plan, and future scaling opportunities
- Serve as SME for all technology needs, with a constant focus on the business objectives of the organization
Specific Technology-Related Tasks
- Compliance Systems Management:
- Oversee development and management of Capital Good Fund GGRF technology solutions and platforms (with a focus on Solar For All), ensuring data integrity for accurate reporting and external partner needs
- Ensure the technology infrastructure supports the Solar For All grant and contracts, with automated systems for reporting and service needs
- Data and Systems Integration:
- Lead API development for integrating clean energy project data and other third-party applications, including emissions data, project transactions, internal expenses, etc
- Security and Data Protection:
- Maintain oversight of cybersecurity measures, ensuring compliance with federal data protection laws and clean energy reporting protocols
- Develop and lead annual and incremental reviews of technology security policies, ensuring alignment with federal standards in clean energy compliance
Required Experience:
- Leadership Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in IT leadership roles, preferably in the clean energy, renewable energy, or sustainability sectors
- Demonstrated experience in leading large technology initiatives, with a proven track record of developing and executing technology strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Experience collaborating with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align technology strategy with broader business objectives
- Federal Compliance and Reporting:
- Extensive experience with federal compliance frameworks, particularly related to energy regulations, such as FERC, NERC, or environmental standards like the Clean Air Act
- Proven track record of managing federal reporting and audits, including developing technology solutions to ensure timely and accurate data submissions
- Experience working with federal programs or grants in the clean energy sector, including knowledge of the associated reporting requirements
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong background in software development and data management, particularly in developing and implementing API integrations, workflow automation, and data systems
- Proficiency in cloud technologies, cybersecurity frameworks, and data security standards relevant to federal compliance and energy data management
- Experience managing large-scale technology projects, especially those involving compliance systems and reporting automation
- Proven experience working as a Salesforce administrator or Salesforce Developer

- Familiarity with energy management platforms and technologies that monitor, report, and optimize renewable energy production
- Understanding of sustainability goals and their technological implications in an organizational setting
- Experience working with managed service providers
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (required) in a relevant field such as:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy)
- Environmental Science with a focus on technology or energy systems
- Master’s Degree (strongly preferred) in a related field such as:
- Certifications (optional but beneficial):
- Relevant certifications in IT management, cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM), or cloud technologies
- Certifications related to clean energy, such as LEED accreditation, or certifications related to federal compliance frameworks, such as NERC-CIP
