Our Fortune 100 telecom client is hiring a Network Engineer to join their team! In this role, the Network Engineer will provide technical support and operations and maintenance for Packet Data Networks across Nokia, Ericsson, and Cisco core platforms (3G, 4G, LTE, 5G), including Voice services (VoLTE, LTE) and Messaging (SMS, MMS, SMPP). The Network Engineers primary objective will be to ensure network availability, stability, and security for our organization.
Eligibility Requirement:
This position requires U.S. citizenship due to federal government contract requirements. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider non-U.S. citizens, including green card holders, for this role.
Available Shifts:
- F-Sun 7pm-7am + Tues 7pm-11pm
- F-Sun 7am-7pm + Wed 7am-11am
Responsibilities
- Work as the Subject matter expert providing support for Core Services (Packet Core, Voice and Messaging)
- Provides support for 3G/4G LTE and 5G Core (EPC and 5GC)
- Maintain high service availability of data network nationwide, providing 24x7 on-call technical support.
- Responsible for monitoring performance issues using wireshark
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, etc.)
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Document network topology, infrastructure, and operational procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support when necessary
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in a network engineering role
- 3+ years’ experience with Core networks
- Strong experience with 3G,4G, LTE and 5G
- Experience with Voice, Data, Messaging or Mobile Internet wireless networks (EPC, SMS, MMS, LTE, SMPP)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with tools such as NetScout, Wireshark, RAN tools, CDR tools, and provisioning tools.
- Proven experience with OEMs such as Nokia, Ericsson, Mavenier, Cisco
