The ideal candidate will have a solid background in power, cooling, storage, networking, and security systems and be capable of building a data center from the ground up. Expertise with HP and Dell servers, Arista networking, InfiniBand, low-latency design, and experience in trading or similar high-speed environments are essential. Additionally, the candidate should possess knowledge of spine-leaf architecture, micro segmentation, firewall management, and cloud connectivity, especially with Azure.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Center Design & Construction:
- Lead the end-to-end planning, design, and implementation of data center infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business needs and scalability requirements.
- Oversee power and cooling systems to maintain optimal environmental conditions and ensure redundancy and resiliency.
- Plan and implement physical and logical data center layouts, focusing on efficiency, security, and ease of maintenance.
Compute, Storage, & Networking Infrastructure:
- Configure and deploy HP and Dell servers, optimizing for performance and resilience in high-traffic environments.
- Implement Arista networking solutions, including low-latency setups using InfiniBand and other technologies essential for trading and latency-sensitive applications.
- Design and manage spine-leaf architecture for high-performance, scalable data center networking.
Security & Micro segmentation:
- Implement robust security measures, including DMZ design, micro segmentation, and firewall deployment (Palo Alto or equivalent).
- Develop and enforce access controls, ensuring that sensitive data and systems are secure within the data center.
- Provide expertise in network security, specifically focused on trading environments where data integrity and low-latency access are critical.
Cloud & Hybrid Connectivity:
- Enable and optimize cloud connectivity, particularly with Azure, to support hybrid data center environments.
- Architect secure and efficient cloud interconnectivity that integrates with on-premise resources, providing seamless scalability and resilience.
Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:
- Continuously monitor data center performance, identifying and mitigating bottlenecks or latency issues.
- Leverage knowledge of low-latency networking and high-performance storage to optimize for latency-sensitive applications.
- Troubleshoot issues across power, cooling, network, and storage systems, ensuring minimal downtime and high reliability.
Documentation & Client Collaboration:
- Maintain detailed documentation of all data center configurations, layouts, and operational processes.
- Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to understand requirements, providing expertise and regular updates throughout the data center build and operation phases.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years in data center operations, consulting, or infrastructure roles with experience in designing and building data centers.
- Expertise with HP and Dell servers, Arista switches, and InfiniBand for low-latency environments.
- Experience in trading environments or similar settings with stringent latency and performance requirements.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Linux, with experience configuring and managing storage and networking components in a data center environment.
- Strong understanding of spine-leaf architecture, micro segmentation, and advanced firewall setups (Palo Alto or equivalent).
- Knowledge of DMZ architecture, security best practices, and hybrid connectivity, specifically with Azure.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex data center challenges.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and manage client expectations effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in data center management, security (e.g., Palo Alto, AWS/Azure), or networking.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation in data center environments.
- Experience in cloud network design and hybrid cloud management
