Position Purpose
Administers, configures, supports, and defines the user roles, components, processes, and infrastructure for school-based standalone server environments and cloud-based services within the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) in accordance with system standards, procedures, and policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
- Advanced Administration knowledge of Teams, SharePoint Online, site collections, and sites/subsites – including OneDrive integration and interoperability with other products in the Microsoft 365 environment;
- Advanced knowledge of SharePoint site administration, site creation, permissions management, list/library configuration, page and template creation, column and view configuration, custom design, and development in modern experiences for pages, lists, and sites;
- Advanced knowledge implementing updates to site structures, list/library best practices, custom forms, custom flows, search configuration, metadata management, and integrations with Microsoft and third- party apps and services;
- Advanced trouble shooting abilities for third level support, while implementing SPO solutions to prevent issues when they occur;
- Advanced knowledge of Google Workspace, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams administration, Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate;
- Extensive experience customizing SharePoint forms using Microsoft Power Apps and related technologies;
- Extensive knowledge of Active Directory structures, user and system management and processes;
- Extensive knowledge of Windows, Chrome OS, Mac OS, and Linux operating systems;
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, JavaScript);
- Working knowledge of endpoint management systems and modern device management (MDM) tools (e.g., Jamf, SCCM, lntune, Google);
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;
- Experience with application virtualization technologies;
- Ability to evaluate business workflow and requirements for all WCPSS application related solutions to ensure compliance with technical, professional, security, and organizational standards and requirements;
- Ability to be able to create and debug automation scripts in various languages including basic batch scripts, PowerShell, python, Power BI, Power Query and SQL;
- Ability to support and troubleshoot processes on Mac OS and Linux operating systems;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form;
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software issues in complex environments;
- Maintains accurate and detailed documentation of all assigned issues in the appropriate documentation system;
- Ability to effectively function within a team environment and to work independently;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with central services and school administrators, teachers, and support staff.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in computer science, engineering, business,
math or related field;
- At least 5 years’ experience as a SharePoint Online administrator;
- Greater than 5 years of digital transformation experience in both on-premise and cloud based environments;
- 5 years of demonstrated successful project and change management in a technology setting;
- Three years of experience involving domain administration, server administration, or related technical experience;
- Demonstrated leadership experience;
- Other combinations of applicable education, training and work experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six-Sigma, PMP, or other project management certification;
- Experience supporting K-12 learning and teaching;
- Microsoft SharePoint Certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivers top level systems management responsible for identifying and provisioning the proper permissions based on tasks required of the different roles. (e.g., Service Management tools and other enterprise systems).
- Design, deploy, and customize SharePoint environments based on business requirements and best practices.
- Manage SharePoint sites, libraries, lists, apps, and associated permissions to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide recommendations on SharePoint solutions.
- Provide support, training, and documentation to promote effective and efficient use of SharePoint tools and features.
- Develop and maintain workflows, forms, and customizations to enhance functionality and improve user experience.
- Work with business users and managers to document and analyze workflows that will be automated in SharePoint and/or Teams.
- Develops scripts and tools to configure, manage, and troubleshoot large groups of computers, users, and processes in an enterprise-scale architecture.
- Automates workflows involving users, computer objects, groups, file shares, permissions, and rights.
- Manages server and desktop configuration using endpoint manager tools, Active Directory, and GPO.
- Virtualization of applications using App-V and RDS to provide highly available applications and services in a secure sandbox environment.
- Provides tier 3 support for Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive,
- Serve as a senior product engineer and will be expected to be able to coordinate engineering efforts between Google, Microsoft, and other Divisions within the District
- Coordinate solutions to incidents and request with the office 365 platform including escalating issues when appropriate.
- Coordinate new service offerings and support the retirement of existing M365 and Google services that are part of the WCPSS service catalog.
- Monitor the product announcements and ensure WCPSS is positioned for any upcoming services changes; Candidates will work with the Service Desk to ensure customers are aware of any service impacting issues.
- Creates software distribution packages and methods to deploy them on a large scale.
- Ensure our cloud identities are secure and that we are following vendor best practices when implementing new modules.
- Develop procedures and processes for ensuring that the Office 365 environment is configured according to Microsoft best practices.
- Identify any configuration issues or best practice gaps and develop a remediation plan.
- Manages Azure based services such as Windows Admin Center, virtual machines, storage accounts, function apps, and app services.
- Maintains accurate and detailed data of all assigned issues in the appropriate documentation system.
- Generates statistical reports of computing environments for analysis and reporting.
- Monitors current and emerging technology trends and performs research and assessments for potential implementation at WCPSS.
- Collaborates with leadership to identify, develop, and implement process improvements.
- Complies with all WCPSS standards, procedures, and processes.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in a professional office and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and vendors. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
