Overview
As an AWS Cloud Engineer with FinOps implementation experience, you will play a key role in optimizing our cloud infrastructure costs while ensuring maximum performance and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and maintain AWS cloud solutions aligned with our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deep technical expertise across multiple technical domains including cloud computing, security, identity and access management and IT infrastructure.
- Strong technical knowledge in designing, deploying and managing AWS Infrastructure & security services (EC2, ELB, Guardduty, Config, Inspector, Security Hub, RDS, Route53, S3, vpc, vpn, tgw, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, eventbridge, etc.) using best practices.
- Hands on experience in Terraform IaaC deployments and to configure cost as a lead indicator.
- Support the cloud monthly budget and forecast process in managing consumption, show back, chargeback and savings in collaboration with accounting, finance, and technical owners.
- Analyze, report, and produce meaningful insights from large raw datasets within cloud billing and usage tools, data lake, CMDB, and other asset inventories as applicable.
- Monitor cloud consumption at the account level to detect, investigate, and escalate anomalies and unplanned spikes.
- Developing and implementing strategies to optimize cloud costs.
- Evaluate and investigate data patterns to derive insightful knowledge to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Collaborating with finance, operations, and technology teams to drive cost optimization initiatives.
- Analyzing cloud usage patterns and trends to identify areas for optimization.
- Recommending changes to cloud service usage, pricing models, and purchasing options
- Developing and maintaining financial models to forecast and track cloud costs.
- Working with cloud service providers to negotiate pricing and contracts.
- Support reports and dashboards to track and communicate cloud cost optimization efforts to stakeholders.
- Develop Governance, Reporting, Processes, and Culture to support and enforce FinOps KPIs.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps tools and processes, and CI/CD systems.
- Experience with cloud containers and/or Kubernetes security best practices.
What You Bring To The Team
- Min 5+ years of relevant experience in Cloud FinOps/Cloud Spend optimization
- Good knowledge of AWS product portfolio, and commercial models
- Knowledge of the core Finance principles and basic understanding of the corporate accounting process (forecast, Chargeback, invoicing, showback, chargeback, accruals etc.)
- Ability to properly structure, model, and visualize cloud platform data to support decision-making.
- Do deep dives to dissect issues further or identify opportunities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations to leaders.
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Aptitude to learn and understand new concepts and technologies to become an expert in the field.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience in working cross-functionally to implement and manage cross-cutting initiatives.
- Ability to operate successfully in a lean, agile, and fast-paced organization.
- FinOps certification will be an advantage.
