As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT infrastructure solutions to support the organization's technology needs. Leveraging your expertise in systems architecture, networking, and security, you will lead initiatives to optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience in systems engineering roles, with a focus on designing, deploying, and managing IT infrastructure solutions.
- Proficiency in systems administration, including experience with operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and storage technologies.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Understanding of security principles and best practices, including network security, encryption, access controls, and security compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent certifications preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and architect scalable and resilient IT systems, including servers, networks, storage, and virtualization infrastructure. Develop system architectures that meet business requirements and align with industry best practices.
- Lead the deployment and configuration of hardware and software systems, ensuring proper installation, configuration, and integration with existing infrastructure components. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and solutions.
- Provide ongoing administration and support for IT systems, including troubleshooting issues, performing system maintenance, and implementing upgrades and patches. Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Configure network devices, monitor network traffic, and implement security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure solutions using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Migrate on-premises systems to the cloud and optimize cloud resources for performance and cost efficiency.
- Implement security best practices and measures to protect systems and data from cyber threats and vulnerabilities. Conduct security assessments, perform risk analyses, and develop security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize the impact of system outages and ensure business continuity. Test and validate disaster recovery solutions to verify their effectiveness and reliability.
- Create and maintain documentation for IT systems, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT staff and end-users to ensure effective use of systems and technologies.
- Evaluate and select vendors and third-party suppliers for hardware, software, and services. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee vendor performance to ensure service delivery meets organizational requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and optimization of IT systems and infrastructure. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in systems engineering and make recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
