As a Network Administrator, the individual will provide Tier II and III level support, and will be responsible for maintaining and operating networks in a government IT support environment. In this role, the Network Administrator will perform installation, provide support, and maintenance of networking equipment in a secured work environment. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for proactively planning and performing the essential duties necessary to mitigate the disruption of transport equipment by responding to outages and resolving problems quickly.
Responsibilities
- Assists in network design, implementation and management.
- Provides network support with a variety of operating systems and OEMs.
- Installs and configures network equipment (i.e. routers, switches, etc.)
- Maintains network connectivity of all workstations, servers, wireless devices, etc.
- Provides network support to users, including VPN support and remote access
- Maintains associated hardware, applications, services, and settings
- Develops and monitors policies for the use of network resources
- Implements and manages disaster recovery and back-up plans
- Evaluates and recommends security improvements and system upgrades
- Monitors network to ensure optimal performance
- Creates and maintains network users/permissions
- Tests release of products to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility
- Creates technical support documentation for systems and applications
- Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office.
Required Qualifications/Education And Experience
- High Diploma or GED
- Must have a minimum of 5 or more years’ experience in a network administration role
- CCNA certification is required
- Must have and maintain a valid Security+ Certification
- Must have fundamental knowledge of networking concepts
- Proven network engineering, network operations, and network performance analysis skills.
- Prior hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Previous knowledge of IT infrastructures
- Familiarity with Network management and monitoring tools
- Possess exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency with scripting languages
- Strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical individuals with complex technical issues.
- Previous experience with Cisco switches
- Ability to mitigate the disruption of transport equipment
- Ability to respond to outages in a calm professional manner
- Must have a Secret Clearance or higher clearance.
Preferred Qualifications/Education And Experience
- CCNP certification is a plus
