Job Summary

The Network Administrator will be responsible for maintaining our organization’s IT network, servers, and security systems. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare IT requirements, including HIPAA regulations, patient data confidentiality, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, and possess strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Duties / Responsibilities

Design, install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including routers, switches, wireless controllers, and firewalls
Monitor network performance and integrity; troubleshoot and resolve issues (e.g., network latency, connectivity problems)
Implement network security measures and protocols to protect sensitive patient data and comply with HIPAA regulations
Manage and optimize network bandwidth, including adjusting configurations for optimal performance
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and IT team members to ensure network availability and reliability for critical healthcare systems
Perform regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies
Maintain documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and processes
Provide technical support and guidance to end-users; train staff on network usage and best practices
Stay current with technological developments in the healthcare IT industry; evaluate and recommend new network technologies and solutions

Preferred Skills / Abilities

Proficiency in access and distribution LAN switching environments with VLAN’s, RSTP, EtherChannel, Multicast and QoS
Excellent Layer 2 & 3 networking skills
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve network-related issues efficiently
Proficiency in monitoring network performance and capacity planning to ensure optimal network operation
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, stakeholders, and end-users
Ability to translate technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical staff
Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and methodologies in a dynamic IT environment
Ability to work with external vendors and service providers to procure, implement, and support network infrastructure and services
Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Leadership skills to guide and mentor junior team members or collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects
Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues

Education and Experience

Valid driver's license
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
3 + years working as a Network Administrator or in a similar role within the healthcare industry is preferred
Proficiency in network protocols and technologies
Hands-on experience with networking hardware management tools
Familiarity with electronic medical records systems and healthcare-specific applications is desirable
