We have a 1-year remote Azure Consultant contract that may be extended at our clients’ discretion. The anticipated start is early August 2024.
Our client oversees the operations of licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions, money transmitters, issuers of payment instruments and travelers’ checks, and premium finance companies. Additionally, our client licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, deferred deposit transaction originators and certain fiduciaries and lenders. Our client regulates the offer and sale of securities, franchises, and off exchange commodities.
Our clients’ Information Technology staff are responsible for providing systems support, maintenance, enhancements, and new development. The Azure Consultant is needed to enhance the overall security posture of our clients’ Azure infrastructure by implementing industry best practices, robust security controls, and proactive threat detection mechanisms.
Tasks Summary
Azure Security Assessment
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of our clients’ Azure environment to identify security gaps, misconfigurations, and vulnerabilities.
- Provide recommendations and remediation plans to address identified security issues and enhance the overall security posture.
Azure Security Implementation
- Implement Azure security best practices and industry standards to secure Azure services, including Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Azure Active Directory, and others as deemed necessary.
- Configure security policies, access controls, encryption, and other security features to protect data and resources in the Azure environment.
Security Monitoring And Incident Response
- Configure and fine-tune security monitoring solutions such as Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and Azure Sentinel to detect and respond to security incidents effectively.
- Develop and document incident response procedures and workflows to mitigate security threats and minimize impact.
Identity And Access Management (IAM)
- Review and enhance Azure Active Directory configurations, including user and group management, role- based access control (RBAC), and conditional access policies.
- Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) and single sign-on (SSO) solutions to strengthen identity and access controls.
Documentation And Knowledge Transfer
- Document security configurations, policies, and procedures implemented in the Azure environment.
- Provide knowledge transfer sessions to our clients’ internal Information Technology team on Azure security best practices, tools, and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Relevant Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or similar certifications demonstrating proficiency in knowledge in Azure, AVS, NSX-T and WAF.
- 3 or more years of working experience in Azure.
- Demonstrated experience in configuring, deploying, and managing Azure security services such as Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Azure Firewall, Azure DDoS Protection, Azure Identity Protection, and Azure Key Vault.
- Familiarity with security best practices and industry standards for securing Azure resources.
- Strong background in cybersecurity principles, including risk management, threat detection, incident response, and compliance.
- Experience in conducting security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing in Azure environments.
- Proficiency in using Azure Portal, Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell, and other Azure management tools for configuring and managing security controls.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, encryption techniques, identity and access management, and security protocols relevant to Azure.
Desirable Qualifications
- 5 years’ in-depth knowledge of Azure services, including Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Azure Active Directory, Azure Networking, Azure Virtual Machines, and other relevant services.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat modeling, encryption, network security, identity and access management (IAM), security incident response, and compliance frameworks (such as GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
- Familiarity with security tools commonly used in Azure environments, such as Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Azure Policy, Azure Key Vault, Azure Information Protection, and Azure AD Identity Protection.
- Understanding of networking concepts and experience in configuring and securing virtual networks, subnets, firewalls, and network security groups (NSGs) in Azure.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing Azure Active Directory, including user and group management, role-based access control (RBAC), conditional access policies, and single sign-on (SSO) configurations.
- Experience in setting up and configuring security monitoring solutions like Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and Azure Sentinel for detecting and responding to security incidents.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other scripting languages to automate security tasks and configurations in Azure.
- Knowledge of industry compliance standards and regulations, and experience implementing compliance controls and governance frameworks in Azure environments.
