We are hiring an energetic, motivated, innovative individual to be a part of our team supporting Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services client in Baltimore, MD. The Systems Integration Engineer works closely with the Program team, Client Hybrid Cloud Partners, Client Hosting Coordinators, and Client Stakeholders to manage, maintain, and optimize application’s performance, durability, and cost to best support Client and the general public. The Systems Integration Engineer will deliver solutions that ultimately ensure that the functions of Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace are carried out for the US citizen and contribute to efforts to reduce healthcare costs.
As a Systems Integration Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advising our customers on their cloud adoption and transformation journeys. Your expertise in cloud technologies, coupled with strategic thinking and business acumen, will enable our clients to leverage cloud solutions effectively to achieve their business objectives.
Under general supervision, a Systems Integration Engineer defines and executes integration engineering activities within a project. These activities may consist of concept exploration and assessment, systems integration, GIS integration, legacy systems integration, performance management, technology assessment, testing and validation, and development and staffing of a systems integration plan.
You will be the catalyst for solutions that are highly innovative and achieved through research and integration of industry best practices. You will influence development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results while also leading work of other cloud partners. You will resolve highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. You will interact daily with various technical resources across different vendors which are fulfilling technical requirements for the customer.
Your goal will be to work with all stakeholders to help Leidos ensure delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions with minimal business impact. Lastly and most importantly, you will represent the IUSG Front Office, Managed Infrastructure Service Provider (MiSP), and Client’ various Product Owners when meeting with the Application Development Organizations (ADO). You will help coordinate the identification of opportunities to provide support, modernization, innovation, and other opportunities for their application.
Primary Responsibilities
- Performs concept exploration and assessment, systems integration, systems of systems integration, performance management, technology assessment, testing and validation.
- Supports a Sr. System Integration Engineer, as required.
- Analyzes and develops technical documentation detailing the integration and system performance.
- May test implementation of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Facilitate session(s) to understand detailed requirements (infra, security, etc.): overview of shared services offerings, introduce managed services available, additional deep dives as requested
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding and expertise in Client Hybrid Cloud Product and Service offerings
- Develop and maintain close advisory relationships with the Application Development Organizations (ADOs) being supported within your portfolio
- Develop and maintain a strong positive relationship with Client Hybrid Cloud Product teams, including a thorough understanding of the Hybrid Cloud Product team’s backlog and work ingestion process
- Ensure all ADOs supported within the portfolio maintain a strong security posture
- Through weekly/monthly reviews of performance and cost data, lead performance and cost optimization efforts
- Lead all application migration and modernization efforts
- Coordinate and ensure all production readiness activities are complete prior to any major cutovers are conducted
- Create and maintain application profiles
- Coordinate Escalations on behalf of Client IUSG’s Shared Service Providers and O&M Teams.
- Apply Product Management principles to develop, maintain, optimize, and evangelize various products across the Client ecosystem.
- Maintain domain knowledge expertise in cloud operations and DevOps best practices.
- Influence development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results while also leading work of other technical staff.
- Resolve highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and eight (8) years of general experience. Six (6) years of general experience is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. With a master’s degree, six (6) years of general experience is required. With a PhD, four (4) years of general experience is required.
- Experience managing a portfolio of applications
- Experience successfully working across multiple vendors
- Knowledge of cloud-based security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience protecting all layers of the application stack.
- Knowledge of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage conflict effectively.
- Ability to adapt and be productive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills supporting multiple stakeholders and business operations.
- Self-starter, self-managed, and a team player.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud Certification (e.g., AWS SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator).
- Agile-based knowledge and skill, including experience with Scrum Ceremonies and work management tools (e.g., (JIRA, Confluence).
- Security Skills—Knowledge of information assurance compliance and information security basics within Client.
