In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the tools and processes necessary for efficient and reliable software builds, deployments, and releases. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, QA teams, and other stakeholders to streamline our build and release pipelines and ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality software.
Helix Core is the best version control software (VCS) for world-class development at scale. It securely versions all digital content - even large files - in a single repository. And it scales for large teams, handles 1000s of daily transactions, and delivers files quickly to remote users (even if they're using Git).
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain automated build and deployment pipelines using industry-standard CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Ansible to automate the provisioning and configuration of development, testing, and production environments in a combination of bare metal, VMware, and AWS environments.
- Support Engineering teams in the use of CI/CD pipelines and supporting the infrastructure
- Consulting on platform and compilation issues for Linux, Windows, and Mac
- Implement and manage containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes for scalable and resilient application deployment.
- Monitor and optimize build and deployment processes to improve efficiency, performance, and resource utilization.
- Troubleshoot build and release issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage internal infrastructure (source control, artifact repositories, compute resources).
- Act as bridge between Engineering and IT organizations to improve communication and efficiency.
- Design and maintain internal tools, web applications, and databases to support Engineering.
- Assist with designing and implementing installers, Mac DMGs, and Linux packages.
- Excel in a wide range of software development skills, including coding, problem-solving, infrastructure design, testing, packaging, and more.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of DevOps experience with bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a focus on supporting build and release processes and customers
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills and attention to detail.
- Desirable Experience:
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI, including pipeline configuration and management.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, or Ruby
- Experience with version control systems like Perforce Helix Core or Git, including branching and merging strategies.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware
- Experience of containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Background in one or more of Build, Release, IT, QA, Development, or Support roles
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as Prometheus or Grafana.
