The People Associate is a trusted resource for data and reporting to all Lightship employees. This individual is interested in contributing to a world-class, inclusive People function that is rooted in strong relationships, a sound ethical compass, and a people-first mentality. The People Associate processes all payroll, reporting, and analytics for Lightship's US and foreign entities. This individual supports Lightship employees to deliver a best-in-class employee experience.
Given the distributed team model at Lightship, and the remote nature of this position, individuals must possess a willingness and desire to work independently without significant oversight. Additionally, this position may require mild travel – approximately 10%.
The People Associate is responsible for: - Supporting an exceptional employee experience by:
- Processing payroll for multiple global entities.
- Reviewing and maintaining payroll data, reports, and records.
- Preparing and calculating off-cycle payments.
- Solving problems concerning payroll and payroll taxes, answer inquiries and enforce payroll policies accurately and consistently.
- Ensuring data entry of new hires, terminations, and employee updates, such as changes to pay rates, org levels, tax statuses, and direct deposit.
- Update all applicable systems in correlation with corresponding personnel changes.
- Processing and monitoring garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specifications.
- Reconciling general ledger regarding payroll transactions.
- Onboarding exceptional talent by
- Supporting the recruiting workflow by scheduling interviews as needed.
- Facilitating the new team member welcome experience by ensuring system access and sharing new hire swag.
Facilitating People Team reporting
- Assisting with People Team paperwork to include JD & CV compliance.
- Assigning Culture Amp & Easly Llama trainings to all new hires and existing employees.
- Other tasks and initiatives as needed to ensure an exceptional candidate experience.
- Cultivating an environment that attracts, engages, develops, and retains top talent.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Impeccable judgment and ability to balance the needs of the company, managers and employees alike.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities.
- Education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or two years of relevant Human Resources experience required.
- Experience in the life sciences industry preferred

The base salary range for this role is between $50,000 and $65,000
, depending on education, skills, and experience. To determine our compensation, we use a market-based approach that is geographically neutral. We believe that this demonstrates our company value of 'believing in people' – valuing the outputs and performance of each team member.
