Patriot, LLC is looking to add a Systems Engineer III to our team. The selected candidate will take the lead in a variety of enterprise initiatives which may include: analyzing complex computer systems and processes; monitoring and troubleshooting applications; creating new systems and procedures in response to input from the user community.
The Systems Engineer III is responsible for hands-on solution development, validation, and technical integration efforts. The candidate will work with support teams at all levels to address problems and build solutions of various sizes and complexities. Related responsibilities include:
- Communicate with staff or clients to understand specific system requirements
- Perform technical implementation tasks ensuring work is delivered on schedule
- Effectively troubleshoot technical issues as they arise during the project lifecycle
- Provide design concepts and time estimates for implementing custom solutions to customers and/or other support teams
- Proactively identify and recommend cost effective solutions for lowering operational costs, streamlining processes, and improving the overall operational environment.
- Use repeatable, documented automation techniques to configure servers to meet functional specifications
- Communicate project information through presentations, technical reports, or white papers
- Complete models and simulations, using manual or automated tools, to analyze or predict system performance under different operating conditions
- Develop comprehensive documentation for deployed systems, including standard configuration, operating procedures, and work instructions.
- Provide subject matter expertise and/or leads tier 3 level support on critical production issues
Essential Knowledge/Skills:
The following knowledge and skills are essential for this position:
- Public cloud platform design and administration (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Windows Server Operating System configuration and management (2016/2019/2022)
- Windows Client Operating System (10, 11) configuration and management
- TCP/IP networking fundamentals and troubleshooting
- Active Directory object administration
- Effective problem solving
- Ability to develop strong working relationships
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including, but not limited to, procedures and technical documentation
- Must be a self-starter, able to work and learn independently, in addition to being a team player
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Can-do attitude and time management skills are critical
The following knowledge and skills are highly desired:
- Microsoft AD and Entra administration
- PowerShell or similar Windows scripting
- Familiarity with Visual Studio and/or VS Code
- MSSQL/MySQL database administration
- Familiarity with GitHub and/or Git
- Windows Server security standards and configuration management
- Enterprise Backup Software (e.g., NetBackup, Veeam, Commvault)
- Microsoft 365 SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerApps, Teams
- RedHat Enterprise Linux
- Enterprise storage design/operation
- Microsoft System Center (SCOM, SCCM)
- Microsoft Desired State Configuration (DSC) administration and management
- Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) to create and modify documentation
- Project Management experience
Education/Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, preferably in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems and at least 5 years of experience. More or fewer years of experience will be considered depending on education level.
- Microsoft Certifications (MCSE, MCSA) on Microsoft Windows Server 2016,
- Azure Infrastructure, or Azure Data and AI are strongly preferred.
- Other cloud platform certifications (AWS, GCP) are a plus
- ITIL version3 or 4 certification are a plus
This is a remote work position ideally candidate must live within one hour of approved ORD office, in the event staff are required to go on-site.
