Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Administrator to join the IT team. This role will be responsible for managing and supporting IT infrastructure while serving as a technical leader and mentor to junior team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems administration, possess excellent leadership skills, and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing technology solutions, ensuring a secure, efficient, and high-performing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Lead and guide the systems administration team in maintaining and supporting servers, networks, and infrastructure.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, providing advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Develop and implement best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure high standards of system reliability, performance, and security.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation, and drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Systems Administration:
- Manage and maintain on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure, including servers, virtualization environments, storage, and networking.
- Oversee the design and deployment of new systems and technologies to support business requirements and strategic goals.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, data protection regulations, and industry standards.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture, configurations, and SOPs.
Mentorship & Team Development:
- Mentor junior systems administrators, providing training and guidance to support their professional development.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure proper knowledge transfer within the team.
- Lead regular team meetings and technical discussions to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Project Management & Strategic Initiatives:
- Lead and participate in IT projects, such as infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and system integrations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement technology solutions that align with organizational objectives.
- Contribute to the development of IT strategies and roadmaps, providing insights on emerging technologies and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with at least 2+ years in a senior or lead role.
- Strong expertise in Windows/Linux server administration, Active Directory, virtualization, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, security principles, and best practices.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing complex infrastructure solutions.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or similar are a plus.
