What You'll Do
- Lead Architectural Modernization: Design and extend complex system architectures for cloud migration, containerization, and modern infrastructure solutions.
- Guide Cloud Transformation Efforts: Develop architectural artifacts, guide the migration to microservices, and facilitate cloud readiness, ensuring alignment with agency and industry standards.
- Drive DevSecOps Maturity: Develop strategies to embed advanced DevSecOps practices, promoting security at every stage of the lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Key Stakeholders: Work closely with IRS teams and other stakeholders to maintain seamless, secure architecture while identifying opportunities for further innovation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Architecture Development: Create architecture artifacts and present strategies to team members and stakeholders (35%)
- Cloud and Microservices Migration: Recommend and design solutions for migration to microservices, containers, and the Cloud (35%)
- Documentation and Compliance: Prepare deliverables according to agency templates (10%)
- New Business Development: Identify new opportunities to provide value (10%)
- Estimations and Impact Assessments: Deliver LoE estimates and VROMs (5%)
- DevSecOps Recommendations: Offer expert guidance for strengthening DevSecOps practices (5%)
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in developing architectures for large, complex programs with stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (10+ years).
- 5+ years leading teams of architects or developers.
- 4+ years modernizing enterprise applications, particularly Java, for the Cloud, with expertise in microservices and containerization.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS GovCloud, and Event Driven Architecture.
- 4+ years of information security experience for sensitive Java applications, with requirements traceability for complex systems.
- Experience in Linux, Git SCM, and middleware products like JBoss EAP, WebSphere Application Server, Kafka, and IBM MQ.
- 2+ years of experience developing DevSecOps solutions on complex projects.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL database technologies, database modeling tools, monitoring solutions, CMMI Level 3, Agile methodologies, and IaC tools like Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.
- AWS Solution Architect Certification preferred.
