Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer (Senior) to support the IT program at the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), assisting with the digital transformation within classified and unclassified IT systems and networks. You will work with our geographically dispersed team of Engineers, Administrators, Analysts, and Managers to provide effective solutions to complex enterprise IT challenges. You will work directly with the CIO, DCIO, Directors, Enterprise Architect, and our team SMEs to methodically modernize IT infrastructure and business systems while existing operations continue uninterrupted.
This role requires a current DOE Q or DOD/DOJ TS clearance.
Responsibilities
- Configure network infrastructure device operating systems, determine hardware specifications, and validate system performance.
- Execute performance tuning, operational process development, and security configuration management in accordance with best practices, standards, and procedures.
- Operate and maintain network infrastructure devices including, but not limited to patching, system upgrade, backup, and system configuration.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine the real or underlying cause of an incident in order to prevent future recurrences.
- Support analysis, triage and break/fix of infrastructure system-related trouble tickets.
- Produce detailed network design documents and diagrams.
- Support management reporting requirements.
- Help maintain, manage, upgrade, and optimize hardware and software.
- Manage installations, Plan, implement, and maintain systems configuration.
- Perform routine software, hardware, firmware upgrades, patches, and fixes.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required per contract. Must have an active DOE Q or TS/SCI clearance.
- 5+ years demonstrated experience in designing and implementing & troubleshooting network supporting datacenter system virtualization, application load balancing, application hosting, application acceleration
- 5+ years of enterprise and campus networking includes but not limited Cisco Switches and Routers, Cisco ISE, 802.1x, LAN, Remote Access VPN.
- Understanding of ITIL processes and integration into enterprise IT Services team
- Strong knowledge of the following technologies:Intermediate knowledge of network switching and routing configurations
- Firewalls, Proxy Servers, and Content Management
- IPSEC and SSL VPNs
- Understanding of high-availability design including replication and load balancing
- Network security and defense-in-depth strategies.
- Intermediate skill level in operation and maintenance of VoIP and POTS services
- Basic knowledge of network security instrumentation and implementation practices
- Excellent customer service, focus, written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be available for off-hours work and participate in rotating on-call responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of system hardening (STIGs, SRGs, regulatory compliance)

- Cisco certifications (CCNA or CCNP)
- CompTIA Security certification
Salary: $95,000 - $110,000
