Join our esteemed team at NC DHHS - Privacy and Security Office (PSO) as an IT Security Specialist on a one-year contract basis. This remote role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the assessment and enhancement of the Child Welfare Information System (CWIS). You will play a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of our systems within a highly respected organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the evaluation of security architecture for CWIS.
- Implement security best practices, including secure coding techniques and vulnerability management.
- Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
- Secure containerized environments and integrate security measures into container workflows.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and PCI DSS, and implement necessary controls.
- Design and configure network security across layers 3, 4, and 7, with a focus on data center environments.
Required Skills
- Profound understanding of security principles and practices.
- Strong experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes, preferably Redhat OpenShift).
- Familiarity with the OSI networking model.
- Demonstrable ability to secure containerized environments.
Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or AWS Certified Security Specialty.
- Proven experience in security and DevOps practices.
