Title:Sr. Cisco Security Engineer, Virginia/Maryland

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Cisco Security Engineer to join our security team. As a critical member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing advanced Cisco security solutions to protect our infrastructure and data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Cisco security technologies, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of network security best practices. CCIE Security certification is preferred, though CCNP Security will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, deployment, and configuration of Cisco security solutions, including Cisco Identity Services Engine (Client), Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FMC and Firewalls), Cisco Secure Endpoint, and MFA/Duo solutions.
- Monitor security operations, analyze security events, and respond to incidents actively. Ensure optimal performance and uptime of all security solutions.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards based on industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting for advanced security incidents and perform root-cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineering, IT operations, and compliance, to ensure cohesive security measures are in place.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of configurations, architectures, operational procedures, and security policies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies, recommending improvements to enhance the organization's security posture.
- Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and staff on security principles, technologies, and best practices.
- Prepare and present regular reports of security incidents and trends to stakeholders, as well as recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- CCIE Security certification preferred.
- CCNP Security certification acceptable.
- 5+ years of experience in network security engineering, with a focus on Cisco security technologies.
- Strong expertise with Cisco Identity Services Engine (Client) and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (Firewalls and FMC).
- Proficient in implementing and managing Multi-Factor Authentication solutions (MFA/Duo) and Cisco Secure Endpoint.
- Familiarity with ThousandEyes or Splunk is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting security technologies within enterprise environments.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to address complex security challenges effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
