Position: Director of Cybersecurity

Director of Cybersecurity to join their team!
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Cybersecurity to lead and manage the organization’s cybersecurity strategy, operations, and team. The Director of Cybersecurity will be responsible for safeguarding the company’s digital assets, systems, and networks from cyber threats and vulnerabilities. This individual will collaborate with senior leadership to define and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity program, ensuring the organization remains compliant with industry standards and regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness and risk management across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Cybersecurity Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that aligns with the organization's business objectives and risk management goals.
- Lead a team of cybersecurity professionals, providing direction, mentorship, and performance management.
- Work closely with senior leadership, including the CISO or CTO, to define and prioritize cybersecurity initiatives.
- Stay ahead of evolving cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and recommend strategies to mitigate risks effectively.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
- Ensure the organization meets cybersecurity compliance requirements, including those set by industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and government regulations.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of security policies and procedures.
Incident Response & Threat Management:
- Lead incident response efforts in the event of a cyberattack or security breach, ensuring effective containment, investigation, and recovery.
- Collaborate with IT teams to establish and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Oversee the development and execution of cybersecurity drills and simulations to ensure readiness for potential security incidents.
Security Architecture & Infrastructure:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and management of secure network infrastructures and systems.
- Ensure security architecture incorporates best practices for protecting critical systems, data, and applications.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate cybersecurity solutions into all areas of IT operations, including cloud infrastructure, applications, and endpoints.
Team Development & Awareness:
- Build and lead a high-performing cybersecurity team, driving continuous development through training, certifications, and knowledge-sharing.
- Foster a company-wide culture of cybersecurity awareness through training, communication, and proactive initiatives.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to implement role-specific security training and awareness programs.
Vendor & Third-Party Risk Management:
- Assess and manage cybersecurity risks associated with third-party vendors, ensuring they meet required security standards.
- Lead vendor selection processes for cybersecurity tools, platforms, and services, and ensure proper integration and implementation.
Metrics & Reporting:
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the effectiveness of the cybersecurity program.
- Regularly report to senior leadership and stakeholders on cybersecurity posture, risks, and incident status.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or similar.
Technical Skills & Expertise:
- Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, encryption, SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), and vulnerability management tools.
- Deep understanding of cloud security, identity and access management (IAM), and data protection strategies.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, system administration, and incident response procedures.
Leadership & Communication:
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of cybersecurity professionals in a dynamic environment.
- Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex cybersecurity concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership, business units, and external partners.
