*This is a remote position, but candidates from Southern California and the Western US (PST) will take priority.*
Regional Southern California-based Law Firm has an immediate opening for a Desktop Engineer. The Desktop Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining desktop hardware, operating systems, and applications for both virtual and physical desktops. They ensure that computer systems are functioning optimally and that end-user technical issues are resolved in a timely manner. The role demands technical expertise in various areas related to computer hardware, virtual machines, software, and networking. These areas include but are not limited to hardware installation, software configuration, troubleshooting, and computer network administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installing, maintaining and configuring new software, hardware and operating systems.
- Updating and maintaining Citrix app and desktop virtualization environment.
- Applying cybersecurity measures and patches protecting the Firm’s sensitive data from external threats.
- Maintaining software licenses.
- Monitoring system performance and making recommendations for improvements.
- Resolving technical issues over the phone or through email. You will also be responsible for logging incidents in a ticketing system and escalating issues to senior engineers when necessary.
- Collaborating with other members of the IT team to develop and implement new technologies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience building, deploying, publishing and updating Citrix Virtual Desktops.
- Experience managing user profiles in a virtual desktop environment.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues related to hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Experience in managing server and desktop operating systems along with associated services, such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Email.
- Familiarity with desktop support software and tools.
- Knowledge of network protocols and security systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with users and other IT professionals.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users, understand their issues, and provide clear solutions.
- Ability to analyze complex situations and data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions.
- Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations, work on multiple issues simultaneously, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to think creatively, approach problems from different angles, and identify efficient solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field preferred.
- CompTIA A+ certification, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Normal law office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
