Position Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting the current Lead with all GSA efforts, overseeing teams of Business Analysts, Engineers, and a Solutions Architect. The Lead Engineer will play a critical role in researching solutions, developing write-ups, and collaborating with vendors to optimize our IT environment.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze business requirements to develop technical solutions using advanced technologies.
- Design and implement solutions focusing on optimizing and enhancing our IT environment, including ServiceNow, on-premise infrastructure (storage, hosting, network, security), and various automation tools.
- Develop automation strategies to streamline operations and improve system efficiencies.
- Lead and contribute to DevSecOps initiatives to ensure seamless integration of development, security, and operations.
- Propose and engineer modifications and upgrades to existing systems to enhance performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions smoothly and align with business objectives.
- Create and present Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for new projects and technologies.
- Design and develop proofs of concept, pilots, and prototypes to test new ideas and technologies before full-scale implementation.
- Conduct continuous research to stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Document and maintain system configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide hands-on implementation of solutions and technical guidance to team members and stakeholders.
Required Experience And Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; or 8 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or 17 years total work experience without either.
- Experience working with Agile and DevOps projects.
- Experience implementing technical and process changes in a highly complex infrastructure environment.
- Expertise in network architecture, data storage systems, security protocols, and DevSecOps practices.
- Strong experience with infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, and PowerShell.
- Experience with Linux and Windows systems.
- Public Trust Clearance preferred.
- ITILv4 Foundation Training and Certification, may be obtained within 120 days after hire.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a proven track record of leading projects.

Education And Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in IT architecture, development, Enterprise Architecture, or similar role preferred.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
