Role Summary
Sophos Factory is a security automation platform used by Sophos to rapidly develop and deploy automation workflows for our Managed Detection and Response offering. Factory offers a graphical drag-and-drop interface for building automation content that can be orchestrated across on-prem and/or cloud compute, with advanced sharing and collaboration capabilities. As a senior software engineer working on the Sophos Factory platform, you will serve a key role in building and improving the web application and back-end microservices that support it.
This position offers an amazing opportunity to hone and expand your existing engineering skill set. Because our platform works with a wide variety of IT automation tools, you will almost certainly be learning something new. We are a fast-paced, agile team that offers much freedom and responsibility to individual engineers to design and implement solutions. We are working on exciting and challenging problems in a rapidly emerging market and need your help building a cutting-edge Security automation platform available.
What You Will Do- Own and lead teams for the end-to-end development of new features and/or enhancements to existing features
- Conduct research, build proof-of-concepts, gather requirements, and lead discussions around architecture and design
- Troubleshoot production issues and work with the team to continuously evaluate and improve the quality, reliability, and scalability of Factory
- Provide input into the direction and product strategy for the Factory platform
- Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to existing engineering processes including planning, development, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Represent the Sophos Factory platform team on cross-functional projects
- Act as a mentor and technical resource for team members
- Foster and nurture a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented culture
What You Will Bring- 5+ years demonstrated software development experience with Javascript and Typescript in production with Node.JS and React
- 3+ years building and deploying production infrastructure as code in AWS, GCP, or Azure
- 5+ years utilizing modern CI/CD platforms (Gitlab/Github/Drone/CircleCI)
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or similar technical discipline, or equivalent experience
- Ability and willingness to mentor other engineers
- Effective communication skills and ability to work closely with a team
- Lifelong learner and passionate about discovering new things and taking on new challenges
In the United States, the base salary for this role ranges from $135,000 to $225,000. In addition to base salary, we offer additional compensation including bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
