Connection has a fantastic opportunity through our Technical Staffing division for a Public Cloud Azure Engineer. This is a remote contract opportunity that offers benefits.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organization’s cloud strategy, including cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring .
- Design scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on Azure .
- Identify appropriate use of Azure operational best practices and architectural design patterns .
- Plan and execute the migration of complex, multi-tier applications to Azure .
- Implement and manage security measures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) .
- Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage and costs .
- Implement cost control mechanisms for Azure cloud-based resources .
- Provide architectural guidance and expertise to other IT personnel, including software developers and systems engineers .
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Azure services with on-premises networks as required .
- Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies on Azure .
- Stay updated with the latest Azure updates and improvements to provide optimal solutions .

Qualifications
- 5-7 years of IT experience, with at least 3+ years in Azure architecture and design.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Related Experience in place of degree accepted.
- Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect or Azure Administrator.
- Proficiency in Azure services, IaaS, PaaS, and experience with tools like Terraform, Azure CLI, Puppet, and Ansible
- Deep understanding of Azure services, including compute, storage, networking, and databases .
- Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python, or Perl to automate tasks and manage resources efficiently .
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code ( IaC ) tools such as Terraform ARM templates, and Ansible to automate infrastructure deployment and management .
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and data protection
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and Git for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) .
- Understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) to ensure data protection and regulatory adherence .
- Familiarity with virtual networks, VPNs, load balancers, and other networking components within Azure .
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly.
