Scale is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Director, Head of Compliance to build and lead our centralized Compliance function to protect and advance the company. We are looking for someone to set a strategic, long-term vision, partnering cross-functionally across Scale and representing Scale’s Compliance function with partners, regulators, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of corporate regulatory compliance, attention to detail, strong leadership and relationship-building skills, and experience building successful compliance programs at late stage startups.
You will:
- Lead the compliance function at Scale, including compliance governance, compliance advisory, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Operations among other teams, to help guide Scale’s growth in a highly scrutinized space.
- Help set and drive vision for how compliance can not only help protect Scale, but serve as a differentiator and competitive advantage.
- Represent compliance with internal and external stakeholders (partners, regulators, etc.).
- Take a strategic, long-term view of compliance, but still be willing to get into the weeds on specific compliance issues.
- Take us to high places, safely.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Have a minimum of 10 years experience building and leading compliance function at scale, or related work in legal and regulatory fields.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high quality compliance programs and teams.
- Possess a deep knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, DoD, GDPR, CPRA, and ESG Frameworks (ex. RBA and SASB).
- Love collaborating with talented professionals across many disciplines - product, design, engineering, marketing, and more.
- Be an excellent communicator, with the ability to break down complex requirements into easy-to-understand and practical systems.
- Care deeply about the founders and entrepreneurs that we serve as customers, and have a strong commitment to product quality and technological advancement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of US Government contract compliance requirements (FAR, DFAR, NIST, etc.)
- Experience building a compliance team that helped take a company public.
Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. $225,000—$254,400 USD
